I love making pom poms, I'm putting together some boxes of colourful yarn and pom pom makers so you can make them at home. I drew this simple instruction sheet to help and thought I'd leave it on here too. (Mainly because it took me a little while, so I might as well put it where I can). Here's a few of my pom pom making top tips.
- Fill the arms of the pom pom maker with as much yarn as possible. This means they will turn out more of an oval shape, but if you give them a really really good trim, you'll end up with beautiful, full round pom poms.
- Cut off a few lengths of yarn and use them at the same time to wrap around the pom pom maker to fill it super quickly.
- Wear a mask!! We all have them now for some reason. If you're trimming a lot of pom poms, that fluff gets right up your nose and in your mouth. Not enjoyable.
- Scissors. Use sharp scissors. Hairdressing scissors are good for trimming, I also use a really small pair for cutting down the middle of the pom pom maker.
